Covid-19 Health & Safety Policy

iconTweed Escapes is registered with the NSW Government as a Covid Safe Business, after downloading, completing, and registering a comprehensive COVID-19 Safety Plan: Commercial Vessels, accredited by the NSW Government. The following information has been submitted to the NSW Government, as part of our COVID-19 Safety Plan.

It is now a condition of entry to all Tweed Escapes vessels and vehicles that all guests will be temperature tested prior to boarding. Any guests whose body temperature is measured as 38 C or above will be denied entry and rebooked or refunded, as is required by the guest/s. It is also a condition of entry that guests will be required to wear face masks, if requested by Tweed Escapes staff, at any time during their cruise or tour.

Tweed Escapes cruises & charters adhere to the Covid 19 Fact Sheets distributed by Roads and Maritime Services NSW (RMS NSW) and all NSW Government and health advice.

Tweed Escapes adheres to all relevant conditions contained in the following guidelines.
Wellbeing of staff and customers
Exclude staff and customers who are unwell.
Provide staff with information and training on COVID-19, including when to get tested, physical distancing and cleaning.

Consider whether appropriate cancellation or flexible booking is available where customers cancel due to COVID-19 factors (such as being unwell or awaiting test results).

Physical distancing

If the vessel is being used for hosting other functions or tours the total number of people should not exceed either 50 customers (excluding crew), and/or the total number of people allowing 4 square metres of indoor deck space per person, and two persons per seat on the upper and back decks. (30 persons plus crew/contractors Spirit of Wollumbin, 45 persons plus crew/contractors Dreamcatcher)

We use contactless check-in where reasonably practical to reduce the movement of customers and the number of surfaces touched. If signatures are required, clean pens between customer use with a disinfectant solution or wipe.

Move or seating as required, including in waiting areas, to support 1.5 metres of physical distance. Members of the same household are not required to physically distance.

Reduce crowding wherever possible and promote physical distancing within areas where people are asked to queue, such as tour meeting points.

Where reasonably practical, ensure customers (who aren’t part of the same household or close contacts) and staff always maintain 1.5 metres physical distancing (including at meal breaks).
Use a telephone or video for essential meetings where practical.

Review regular deliveries and request contactless delivery and invoicing where practical.

Have strategies in place to manage gatherings that may occur immediately outside the vessel, such as wharf or jetty pick up or drop off zones.

Hygiene and cleaning

Adopt good hand hygiene practices and ensure hand hygiene facilities are available to customers and staff.

Ensure bathrooms are well stocked with hand soap and paper towels.

Clean public areas frequented by staff or customers at least daily with detergent/disinfectant.
Frequently touched areas and surfaces must be cleaned several times per day with a detergent/disinfectant solution or wipe.

Disinfectant solutions need to be maintained at an appropriate strength and used in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions.

Ensure items used in the preparation of food or for eating are washed thoroughly with hot water and a detergent solution between use, or preferably with a dishwasher if available. Where possible, customers should not share dishes, drinking glasses, cups, and eating utensils.

Ensure processes are in place to launder towels between use if provided. Customers should not share towels.

Staff are to wear gloves when cleaning and wash hands thoroughly before and after with soap and water.

Limit the use of cash transactions by encouraging contactless payment options.

Record keeping

Keep a record of name and a mobile number or email address for all staff, customers and contractors for a period of at least 28 days. Ensure records are used only for the purposes of tracing COVID-19 infections and are stored confidentially and securely.

Make your staff aware of the COVIDSafe app and its benefits to support contact tracing if required.

Cooperate with NSW Health if contacted in relation to a positive case of COVID-19 at your workplace, and notify SafeWork NSW on 13 10 50

Tweed Escapes Health and Safety for Vessel Operations

Tweed Escapes has introduced additional safety and operation measures for our business.
These measures will assist in minimising risks to our staff and guests.

What we are doing:

  • Our staff has increased the frequency and level of all our hygiene and cleaning procedures.
    All surfaces are deep cleaned after every cruise/tour with hospital-grade cleaning and disinfectant products and wiped down prior to the next cruise/tour commencing with iso wipes. Iso wipes are also utilised to wipe down the toilet area during all cruises.
  • All multi-use, washable cups and glasses have been removed from our vessels.
  • Self-serve tea and coffee station has been removed until further notice.
  • Complimentary water dispensers have been removed from our vessels.
  • Bottled water is available on arrival at the gate (not onboard)
  • Hand sanitisers are provided on-board and at the arrival gate. All guests are required to utilise the hand sanitisers prior to embarking and disembarking.
  • Hand sanitising wipes are also available to all guests in individual packs.
  • Maximum numbers onboard our vessels have been reduced in accordance with Social Distancing Regulations of 4 sq m per person.

Our Pontoon Boat is available for hire for a maximum of 8 people. The Spirit of Wollumbin has restarted its Charters & Cruises for a maximum of 30 persons for 180-minute cruises.

Your health is our top priority, and we have put special measures in place to keep all guests safe both during and after your activity.

Stringent Cleaning – We’ve increased the frequency of disinfecting surfaces and high traffic areas between each cruise, and hand sanitizer will be available to all of our guests.

Social Distancing – Guests will stay at a safe 1.5 m distance during all points of the cruise. We also ensure that all staff members will be wearing any necessary PPE.

Wellness Checks – Employees receive daily wellness checks to ensure they are healthy and symptom-free. If you or anyone in your group is experiencing symptoms, we will work directly with you to cancel or reschedule your cruise
